Mohanlal announces acting debut of daughter Vismaya, with backing from Aashirvad Cinemas

After his son Pranav, Mohanlal's daughter Vismaya is set to make her acting debut. The Malayalam superstar officially announced the news on his social media handles. Titled Thudakkam (English: Beginning), the project is helmed by director Jude Anthany Joseph, known for hits such as 2018 and Ohm Shanthi Oshaana.

Mohanlal shared the title with the caption: "Dear Mayakutty, may your "Thudakkam" be just the first step in a lifelong love affair with cinema. #Thudakkam"

Mohanlal's longtime associate, friend, confidante and producing partner, Antony Perumbavoor, is backing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The company introduced Vismaya to their social media followers through a note.

"Aashirvad Cinemas takes immense pride and honour in introducing Ms. Vismaya Mohanlal in her silver screen debut. With hearts full of pride and eyes set on the horizon, we unveil a new voice, a fresh vision, and the dawn of a luminous new chapter. In a world woven with stories, a storyteller emerges, not from shadows, but from light. Welcome, #VismayaMohanlal," read the note.

A gifted artist, poet and performer, Vismaya published her book of poems, Grains of Stardust, in 2021. She has also dabbled in martial arts (Kung Fu), during a 2022 visit to Thailand.

Vismaya is making her screen debut 23 years after her brother Pranav, who first appeared as a child actor in Mohanlal's Onnaman, as the younger self of his father's character.

Pranav, last seen in Vineeth Sreenivasan's Varshangalkku Shesham in a lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran's L2: Empuraan in a cameo, will be seen next in Bramayugam director Rahul Sadasivan's new horror thriller Diés Iraé.
